Jian Gang Ngui, PhD Candidate

I am a fifth-year PhD candidate (A.B.D) in the Linguistics department, and I have been working on Ossetian and Balochi elicitation, documentation and analysis as part of the Iranian Languages research group.

Broadly speaking, my primary areas of interest are in syntactic and semantic theory and the syntax-semantics interface. I am currently working on phenomena related to long and short bei-passives in Mandarin, and I have worked on ellipsis in sluicing and fragments in Colloquial Singapore English, optional/partial WH-movement in Colloquial Singapore English as well as discourse particles in Colloquial Singapore English and their semantic contribution to the discourse.
